About Peter Harris
I have worked in the dental industry for 16 years. I worked as a civil servant for the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), completing my apprenticeship as a Medical Dental Service Section, senior engineer. When with the MOD, I received training and experience on mainly Tridac, Contessa and Daray products. I also helped on the handpiece repairs, working on handpieces form British military establishments from all over the world.
I then worked for Claudius Ash LTD, for eight years, starting as a service engineer and eventually as workshop manager. Whilst at Claudius Ash, I received training and/or experience on nearly every major brand within the UK market, with the main emphasis on Planmeca.
I then worked for Minerva Dental LTD as a service engineer, until 2007. Whilst at Minerva I worked extensively on digital products from many manufacturers, including Sirona, Durr and Planmeca.
I have seen many changes in equipment technology over the last few years. Digital imaging technology has obviously been the biggest leap forward. With wireless technology, and enhanced battery technology, it is now possible to have fast, reliable, high quality cordless cameras. CCD technology has also improved and now affordable high quality sensors are available at reasonable cost.
